Tarot Card of the Week: August 17 – August 23
Queen of Swords
One of the most collectible and celebrated artists of the art deco movement, Alphonse Maria Mucha (24 July 1860 – 14 July 1939) was a Czech Art Nouveau painter and decorative artist.
He was well-known for his images of women. He produced famous advertisements, designs, illustrations and paintings and was known for capturing the spirit of the moment in his art.
Much of his art is displayed in the Tarot Mucha deck.
Mucha insisted that art was about conveying a spiritual message, so showcasing his art on a tarot deck is a perfect tribute to what he stood for.
Interestingly the Art Nouveau movement, and the Rider-Waite-Smith tarot deck were at the height of their popularity.
This deck follows the traditional Rider-Waite-Smith, with ethereal images of Alphonse Mucha.
He was catapulted to fame when he was commissioned to create posters for the famous actress Sarah Bernhardt.
She appears as The Magician in the deck, and Mucha himself appears as the driver of the Chariot.
This week, we pulled the serious and intuitive Queen of Swords from the Tarot Mucha Deck.
This copper-haired beauty shows that she cannot be easily fooled.
She shows her intelligent ability to judge and discern without being influenced by emotion or sentiment.
She likes to know the details of what is going on around her so she can solve a problem swiftly.
The Queen of Swords connects with people through an intellectual understanding not an emotional one.
She is smart, and does everything correctly. Or as correctly as she can.
The Queen of Swords doesn’t beat around the bush, she tells it like it is. She thinks quickly and is highly perceptive and intuitive.
She can cut through the noise and confusion like a knife and just get to the point.
She is upfront and honest with her opinions and she expects the same from those around her.
When you see and pull this card from the deck be alert, and independent in thought and judgement.
Know that you are going to use your unbiased intelligence, to make an assessment of the situation and come up with a solution to the problem.
Your natural empathy and compassion for others, could distract you a little.
You must remember to make your decisions based on common sense, what’s in your head rather than what is in your heart at this time.
Do not let emotion get in the way. Rather, use fact and logic to make your decisions.
Tarot Mucha Is an extraordinary tribute to art nouveau pioneer Alphonse Mucha.
This deck embraces the fresh beauty of the dawning of the twentieth century along with the eternal wisdom and understanding of the tarot.
This special edition contains full-bleed images and a booklet that reveals every secret hidden in the cards.
