I believe that we are all born with psychic potential, although it comes more naturally for some of us than for others. Some of us resist it and place more emphasis on the outer rational world, while some of us may be so drawn to it that we begin developing it from an early again, without even realizing we’re doing it.
Believe it or not, I wasn’t born with pink hair. I was born with a full head of tick, black hair aside from a single long, curly, wiry white hair that fell out a few weeks later. My mother always told me that it was probably a remnant from a past life and that it meant that I was an ‘old soul’.
Back then, I had no idea what an ‘old soul’ was, nor did I realize in any capacity that most other families don’t believe in past lives (or even psychic abilities) the way that my family does. But that acceptance helped me explore my own gifts from an early age.
Over the years I’ve spent time practicing different techniques that have helped me to develop and control my own psychic abilities. I know that some psychics don’t like the idea of using “tools,” but I find them extremely helpful in learning as much as I can about the questions I’m asking.
I wanted to share with you a few of the techniques I’ve used:
Tarot cards: I was never a fan of reading Tarot books, not only because the language is often too flowery and abstract for me, but because I feel it is important for me to look at the imagery on the cards and decide what they mean for me.
I was also encouraged to write some of my feelings on my first deck of cards, which helped me tremendously because while learning it was much easier for me to lay the cards down without having to stop and look up the meaning in a book each time I did a spread. I strongly recommend trying this for yourself, knowing that by the time you replace this deck with a new one you will no longer need to write on them.
Visualization: There are many different ways to do this, and most of them involve meditation, which there are also many different ways to do. I personally do this by closing my eyes and counting myself down into a state of deep relaxation. I take mental note of the images that surface in my mind but don’t allow myself to focus too much on them. I know I can analyze them later, and this lets be remain ‘in the moment’ and keeps things flowing. This is helpful for looking at what the unconscious is trying to tell me. I take note of my dreams in much the same way.
Automatic writing: I learned this by accident, actually. I used to keep a notebook next to my bed to write my dreams in when I woke up each morning. Little did I know that in that state of mind — somewhere in between being asleep and awake — — some of my strongest psychic impressions would occur.
I started letting the words just flow and was blown away by the results. Try this yourself and let me know what you think!
Scrying: This is what the stereotypical Fortune Teller is doing when she looks into her crystal ball. While it may seem hokey (and don’t get me wrong, sometimes it is), it is a valid way to tap into psychic impressions for a lot of people.
The same can be done by looking into a bowl of water or the flickering flame of a candle. We’ve all done this as children by looking up at the sky and forming pictures in the clouds.
For me this is a way to get out of my left brain (logic) and into my right (intuition).
In the coming weeks I will be talking about some of these things (and more) in-depth, but for now try to think about ways that you might tap into your own psychic abilities and how the techniques I’ve described about might help you to explore them further.
I am available for live chat sessions at affordable rates. Please feel free tocontact me to schedule an appointment, or leave a message for me below. I look forward to speaking with you!
