This month’s results are posted below. These cards reveal your specific message for the Sagittarius New Moon that takes place on Tuesday, November 29th, 2016 at 12:18 pm UT (7:18am EST).
This New Moon occurs at 7° Sagittarius 42.
The following cards represent nine different areas of focus. They’re tied to the Moon’s conjunction to the planets as she moves through her 28-day lunar cycle.
The messages outlined below were derived from the Sabian Symbols, which are a set of 360 symbols — each associated with a different degree of the zodiac — that were devised by medium Elsie Wheeler and astrologer Marc Edmund Jones in 1925.
Here are the interpretations for each of the positions, starting with card 1:
Card 1 — Sun conjunct the Moon (New Moon)
If you picked this card, the energy of the Sun conjunct the Moon (or the Sagittarius New Moon) will resonate with you during this lunar cycle. This aspect occurs on November 29th at the 8th degree of Sagittarius.
The New Moon brings an opportunity to start new, and this month with it falling in Sagittarius, the emphasis is on personal expansion and growth.
The Sabian Symbol for this degree is “Deep within the depths of the earth, new elements are being formed.” It refers to the need to look deep beneath the surface and to ferret our information that might not be readily apparent to others.
It calls for insight and awareness, and to being open to new ways of thinking — without allowing yourself to become rigid or your views to become permanently crystallized.
There’s an understanding with this symbol that there are many layers to every action, event and decision, and that all of them are somehow interconnected. The urge to explore the hidden regions of your own psyche is also indicated here.
Take some time this month to delve into the mysteries that have been pulling at you for some time. You may be experiencing a shift in consciousness, and if so you’ll want to look at all of different the facets of whatever changes you’re going through. Keep in mind that decisions you make now are likely to have long-term repercussions, so make sure you view them from every angle before you commit to setting them in stone.
Card 2 — Moon conjunct Saturn
If you picked this card, the energy of the Moon conjunct Saturn, which will take place at the 18th degree of Sagittarius on November 30th.
The Sabian Symbol for this degree is: “Tiny children playing in sun-bonnets.” There are elements of here of wanting to go back to simpler times, when none of the problems or worries of your modern day life affected you personally.
You may long for the youthful exuberance that is depicted in this card. The ability to kick your shoes off and have some good clean fun. But that involves either putting your responsibilities aside or putting them in the hands of another.
There’s a playful and carefree innocence depicted in this card. But Saturn is involved here and Saturn tends to paint things with a more serious and sobering brush. So you might consider whether the urge to take a trip down memory lane might be mired in a desire to escape.
You may be overly worried about those within your care. Or you may feel that your own desire to break free has been stifled by another.
You do want to find a way to balance your need to attend to so many responsibilities with the joyful spirit of play you so deserve. Remember that all work and no play can rob you of your very essence. The Saturn / Moon aspect may threaten to hold you down, but its transit through the expansive sign of Sagittarius can ultimately set you free.
Card 3 — Moon conjunct Mercury
If you picked this card, the energy of the Moon and Mercury will resonate with you during this cycle. This aspect occurs on December 1st at the 28th degree of Sagittarius.
The Sabian Symbol for this degree is: “A splendidly built bridge, a heritage of unknown ages, still spans the beautiful and wildly primitive stream.”
This symbol refers to the need to build upon what you have learned from the past and bring it forward into the future.
It speaks of building bridges between people, places and moments in time, to bring them all together.
There are elements here of retracting your footsteps which is especially meaningful because this is the exact degree that Mercury will come back to during its next retrograde cycle.
With respect to the Mercury conjunction, this aspect refers to gaining new insights, communicating your feelings to others, and receiving messages from the other side. Pay attention to those messages: as they may be meaningful for you later on,
As noted, Mercury will turn retrograde during this cycle (on the19th). The retrograde may see you retracing your path and reliving some of your earlier memories This is an important part of the process so embrace it rather than trying to resist it. Remember that these things take time and that the insights you gain through these experiences will ultimately make you stronger.
Card 4 — Moon conjunct Venus
If you picked this card, the Moon conjunct Venus will resonate with you during this cycle. This transit occurs on December 3rd at the 26th degree of Capricorn.
The Sabian symbol for this degree is: “A water sprite dancing in the mist.” There is an effervescent, uninhibited energy depicted in the imagery of this card. The water sprite skims along the water’s surface with such buoyancy that she never touches down.
You may be feeling optimistic about the future or celebrating recent good news. You may also recognize the value of taking a lighthearted approach to whatever it is you set your mind to.
The Moon / Venus conjunction speaks of opening your heart to the prospect of love, beauty and grace. But we can’t underestimate the power of play. The fairy in this card glows with enthusiasm as she prances through the mist.
Speaking of the mist, you may not have the foggiest idea where you are going. But there’s just enough illumination with that gorgeous Full Moon to guide you toward your destiny.
There is a dreamy, ethereal quality in this imagery, despite the murky reflection just below the water’s surface. This tells us that not all might not be as perfect as it seems. You may find yourself skimming the surface of areas you’ll eventually need to address, but for right now you’re more likely to be floating on air.
Card 5 — Moon conjunct Mars
If you picked this card, the energy of the Moon conjunct Mars will resonate with you during this lunar cycle. This aspect occurs on December 5th at the 20th degree of Aquarius.
The Sabian Symbol for this degree is “A large white dove bearing a message.“ This degree speaks of bringing news from afar, and not just good news, but conciliatory news. Hopeful News. Messages of Peace, forgiveness and surrender for the greater good.
On first reflection this symbol may seem incongruous, at least with respect to the Moon / Mars conjunction. We know that Mars was named for the god of war. It can be aggressive, rash and impulsive. It’s hardly seen as a harbinger of peace.
But we can see in this image the dove “rising above” all the turbulence below and because Mars is currently in Aquarius (and in mutual reception with its ruler Uranus), this symbol begins to make more sense.
Mars is more capable of detaching from petty grievances and unpleasant emotions in Aquarius than it is in any other sign.
It’s also more capable of putting its own biases aside and fighting for the greater good in this sign than any other. While you may feel conflicted at times over what you can do to reconcile the need to fight for what you believe in with the desire for peace and harmony, your goal this month should be to adopt some spiritual altitude and rise above, much like the dove in this card.
Card 6 — 1st Quarter Moon
If you picked this card, the energy of the First Quarter Moon will resonate for you during this cycle. This takes place on December 7th at the 16th degree of Pisces.
The First Quarter Moon is referred to as a “crisis in consciousness” aspect: with the Sun and Moon being 90° apart. This is known as a “square” and in this case it’s a square between the Sun in Sagittarius and the Moon in Pisces. Both of these signs are co-ruled by Jupiter and Neptune, the signs most associated astrologically with spirituality and soul growth.
The Sabian Symbol for this degree is: “In a quiet moment, the flow of inspiration.” This symbol fits very well with the Jupiter / Neptune influence, with this image having been chosen to portray the combination of ethereal beauty (Neptune) and vast horizons (Jupiter).
You may be going through your own existential crisis at this time. Or recent events in your life may have led you to look for answers that are outside of yourself or the world you live in.
The flow of inspiration may also come from within, but if so there’s a need to quiet your mind and allow it to take shape.
You may have a newfound appreciation for the beauty and wonder that surrounds you this month. This may be something you’re actively engaged in or it may be that the circumstances in your life have prompted you to search for greater meaning. Either way this should be a period of profound inspiration and understanding.
Card 7 — Full Moon
If you picked this card, the energy of this month’s Full Moon will resonate with you during this cycle. This aspect occurs December 14th at the 23rd degree of Gemini.
The Sabian symbol for this degree is “Three fledglings in a nest high up in a tree.” While there aren’t too many of those in certain regions of the world at this time of year, this symbol speaks more about interacting with others — as well as a complex inter-reliance on those we’re close to — than it does anything else.
This Full Moon is also called the “Cold Moon,” and you can see that along with the well-constructed nest, these baby birds are huddled together, the warmth of their bodies adding a layer of protection.
This symbol refers to the importance of not only connecting with like-minded people, but working (and potentially living) closely with one another. You may find yourself in a position of needing to rely on others during this time. Or you may be one providing comfort or sustenance to someone who’s reached out to you for help.
There will come a time when these fledglings outgrow their tiny nest and decide to fly the coop. But for now they not only rely on each other, but bring one another comfort and protection. Whether you’re the one asking for help this month or are the one taking care of others, remember the importance of staying close and having one another’s backs, because you’re all in this together.
Card 8 — Moon conjunct Jupiter
If you picked this card, the energy of the Moon conjunct the North Node will resonate with you during this lunar cycle. This aspect occurs on December 22nd at the 21st degree of Libra.
The Sabian Symbol for this degree is: “A crowd upon a beach.” This is an appropriate symbol for the Moon / Jupiter conjunction because Jupiter is tied to both travel and to the outdoors.
It speaks of adopting a relaxed and casual approach to life and of being comfortable in your environment. The Moon and Jupiter in Libra is a very sociable aspect. It combines the desire to interact with others with the ability to be yourself, at ease in the company of strangers.
A crowded beach is generally not the place where people put on airs. They go there to bask in the warmth of the sunlight and play among the waves.
You may be experiencing this symbol literally, as in planning a a vacation or a trip to an exotic locale. Or you may feel the Jupiter urge to broaden your horizons in other ways.
This is a time for going off somewhere and recharging your batteries, if only in your mind. It’s a time for shedding any airs or pretenses you may feel the need to uphold in more formal settings and to just “be yourself.” While immersing yourself in a crowd may not immediately appeal to you, the focus here is one of being comfortable enough in your own skin to recapture that essence in any setting.
Card 9 — Moon conjunct Saturn
If you choose this card, the energy of the Moon conjunct Saturn will resonate with you during this cycle. This aspect occurs December 27th at the 21st degree of Sagittarius.
This is the second Moon / Saturn conjunction in this cycle, and is the last transit before the Capricorn New Moon.
The Sabian Symbol for this degree is “A child and a dog with borrowed eyeglasses.” This symbol refers to the need to open your eyes and use your imagination.
It requires you to suspend logic and reality long enough to envision a myriad of other (potentially unlimited) possibilities. It may also involve changing your perspective and reinventing yourself or along the way.
In order to see things more clearly, we sometimes have to be wiling to see things through someone else’s eyes. Especially if we’ve become so invested in our own perceptions that we’ve “turned a blind eye” to another point of view.
This symbol encourages you to adopt a unique vantage point as you look toward your future. It asks you to compare the reality you now exist in with the one you would like to create.
The Moon / Saturn conjunction understands that life really is what you make it, and that while you may not be re-write the past, you will still have time to recreate your future. This aspect reminds you that every moment brings an opportunity to change the way you see things and thus create a whole new reality.
